An award-winning contemporary romance novelist and short story writer, Stephanie lives in Te Waipounamu, the South Island, and writes popular slow-burn multicultural Kiwi love stories with heart, heat, and a real sense of home.
Writing is addictive. Not just your garden variety must-have-caffeine addiction, but an all-out obsession. The kind of grip a book has on you at 3am in the morning, when you’re fully aware you’ll have one hell of a reading hangover the next day, but you still need one more chapter… Imagine that times ten and you’re getting close to how it feels to write a novel.
That’s how Kiwi author Stephanie Ruth describes it, anyway. She maintains the best thing about being a romance writer is the bona fide license to end her protagonist’s stories in an HEA, and the most challenging part is getting them there.
Like many New Zealand writers, she works two part-time non-writing related jobs and co-raises three teens alongside writing, editing, publishing, and promoting her first contemporary romance series, Otago Waters.
The concept of Otago Waters came to her when she was visiting whānau in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. She stood on the esplanade at St Clair watching the surfers brave the southern swell and thought, “Only in Aotearoa.”
Her unapologetically Kiwi, slow-burn, multicultural and multi-award-winning romance series is now open to New Zealand stockists of popular fiction.
