Pat Backley is an author, born in England but now based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Passionate about people and travelling the world, she has spent 70 years living a colourful and interesting life and her books reflect these passions.
She has always been fascinated by social history and the lives of ordinary people and believes their stories should be told.
“It is a way of honouring my ancestors. They have no voice, so I will make sure their stories are heard.”
She wrote and published her first book Daisy in 2020, just before her 70th birthday.

Her published books in The Daisy Series, include Daisy a historical family saga (1887 -1974) and the sequel The Second Daisy. She is currently working on the third book in this series.
Her other works include her personal memoirs: From There To Here, With An Awful Lot In Between and three books in her Ancestors series: Valentine George, Lou and Eustace, and Dot and Ben.
She has written a travel memoir: Seventy Years Worth Of Travel and will shortly publish the sequel: Is Travel Still Fun In Your 70’s?
And finally, a pocket-size non-fiction book : The Abandoned Wives Handbook.
Pat says that having discovered her passion, she now intends to write until she dies!
